Client: A local retail brand selling artisanal products across Malaysia
Challenge: The client’s existing e-commerce website was built on an outdated platform with poor mobile experience, slow load times, and a confusing checkout process. Cart abandonment rate was over 78%, and mobile conversion rate was just 0.4%.
Our Approach
We rebuilt the entire e-commerce experience on WooCommerce with a mobile-first design philosophy. The new site featured a streamlined product catalog with improved filtering, high-quality product photography with zoom functionality, a simplified three-step checkout process, and integration with popular Malaysian payment methods including FPX, GrabPay, and Touch ‘n Go.
We also implemented automated abandoned cart recovery emails, product recommendation algorithms, and a loyalty points system to encourage repeat purchases.
Results
The redesigned website delivered remarkable results. Overall revenue increased by 180% within the first quarter post-launch. Mobile conversion rate jumped from 0.4% to 2.8%, cart abandonment dropped to 45%, and average order value increased by 35% thanks to the product recommendation engine. The abandoned cart email series alone recovered an additional RM 15,000 in monthly revenue.
Key Takeaway: Investing in user experience and conversion optimization for your e-commerce site can deliver dramatic revenue improvements.
